In fact, a lowered self esteem, self worth, and violence towards oneself are the most common occurrences after one is abused. The best way to remedy and overcome these symptoms is through activities that promote self worth and an overall acceptance of oneself.
There are a number of different routines and methods health care professionals will recommend in that aftermath of abuse. They will suggest various physical and emotional health activities that promote the welfare of the individual self. This will include self affirmations, like little reminders about how great and beautiful they are. Some survivors may be doubtful of these beliefs at first, but studies have shown that over time their perceptions may change.
The ability to take negative energy and channel it through creative expressions and experiences such as art and dance. Professionals will also suggest healthy practices through hygiene and exercise as part of the self-care treatment plan. Sometimes one can find that wellness and positivity is one of the most essential steps a survivor can take in the healing process.
This is why several organizations have teamed up to raise money and promote wellness and self love through the Moving Beyond Abuse 5K Race & Charity Walk. Walking is a wonderful way to get healthy exercise. Together with Women Aware, Genucel by Chamonix has created a community event that promotes the health of individuals suffering from abuse. Women Aware has been around since 1981 and dedicates itself to supporting battered families in New Jersey. They provide food, shelter, and recovery programs for women and their families in the state.
New Jersey has one of the highest abuse rates in the country. All people can experience abuse, but women have a higher likelihood of abuse, making women specific care for domestic abuse that much more important.
Genucel has had ongoing efforts in the care for those who have been abused. Apart from money donated, their four-step products work with skin that has been damaged and aged in an effort to reduce wrinkles. Stress from abuse can take a toll on one’s skin and these products help to reduce those effects. Women Aware and Genucel have come together to promote the self esteem of women everywhere. The Moving Beyond Abuse 5k brought awareness to the survivors of abuse and promoted an overall positive lifestyle through donations and community events.
