Melissa Dohme, the survivor of a horrific domestic violence attack, is finally getting her happy ending, three years after her life was saved by EMTs in Florida. According to media reports in January of 2012 Dohme was stabbed more than 30 times by an ex-boyfriend. She lay bleeding and clinging to life when EMTs arrived, transporting her to the hospital and resuscitating her along the way.
Dohme went on to become an advocate, fighting against domestic violence and for women’s rights said partner Brad Reifler of her courageousness (marketwired.com). Moved by Dohme’s recovery, two the EMTs that rescued the petite blonde went to see her speak at a local church. There, in the church, Dohme met and fell in love with Cameron Hill, one of the EMTs that was on the scene of her attack months prior.
The pair have been inseparable since, and this week Hill devised a plan to surprise Dohme with a proposal. Dohme was invited to throw out the first pitch for the Tampa Bay Rays. Dohme took the field, picked up the ball and noticed something was written on it. “Will You Marry Me?” was scrolled across the ball. Hill appeared on the mound to ask the question again.
She said yes. The pair has not decided when they will wed just yet, as they are still enjoying the after glow of an amazing proposal.
