Jorge Moll earned his MD in Neuroscience at the Federal University of Rio de Janiero, Brazil and then went to Sao Paulo University to attain a Ph.D. In Experimental Psychopathology. Since completing his medical education, he has moved back to Rio de Janiero where he assists suffering patients in improving their quality of life. Even if a disorder or disease has no known cure, Moll is able to provide them a more comfortable life.
“I have always had a dream and passions to cultivate world class research, education and healthcare.” Jorge Moll said. This is the reason founded of D’Or Institute of Research and Education and is Director of the Cognitive & Behavioral Neuroscience Unit. Moll is also employed at a hospital in his local area called Rede D’or Sao Luiz.
Moll says his days at work consist of meetings and speaking with students, scientists and others on his long list of associates. Moll likes to surround himself with as many people as possible. “I believe it is fundamental to have a free exchange of ideas and collaborations.” he said (Attocomunicacao).
It will be interesting to see how Moll, in the future, will implement his other passions into his medical work. “I love the rising trend of artificial intelligence,” Moll began “I am also fascinated by the new developments in regenerative medicine and gene therapy.” Moll says he is picky with what ideas he decides to implement, so anything he does introduce to his patients is sure to be innovative.
Jorge Moll wasn’t always as successful as he is now, of course. When he first started running his institution, he found that things didn’t always go as planned (https://interview.net/jorge-moll/). Moll overcame his failures by reevaluating his strategy when results took too long or never came at all. “If you play with the strengths and weaknesses of your strategy, you could find it very helpful.” he explained.
